On Sunday 2 August the Victorian Government declared a ‘state of disaster’ and announced that regional Victoria will head into to Stage Three restrictions from 11.59pm Wednesday 5 August.
In line with these latest government restrictions, our Centre is now closed until further notice.If you have made a booking to visit the centre after the closure date, you will receive a full refund for your booking. Please allow us some time to process these refunds.
All memberships will remain on suspension or if you have reactivated your membership it will automatically be suspended again.
There are now four reasons those who live in regional Victoria can leave their homes:
- Shopping for food and supplies
- Care and caregiving
- Study and work (if you can’t do it from home)
We know this is disappointing and we have really enjoyed being able to welcome you back since reopening. But the government is making decisions with the best interests of our community in mind, and we must all work together to reduce the spread.

On Thursday 30 July the Victorian Government announced mandatory face covering when you leave home from 11.59pm Sunday 2 August, wherever you live in Victoria.
From Monday anyone visiting our facility will be required to wear a face covering at all times except where your circumstance is included as one of the Victorian Government approved exemptions. If you are attending the facility to swim or perform other strenuous activity you are required to wear your mask to and from the centre and may remove it during exercising. Reactivate your membership today!
As many of you know, we implemented a new online booking system when we reopened that allows us to manage the amount of people visiting the centre. With the system, members can book and pay for their session online while their memberships were suspended.
We understand many of you visit our centre on a regular basis, which is why we’re excited to announce that you can know reactivate your membership if you wish to do so.
All you need to do is fill in the reactivation form we have sent you via an email. If you did not receive an email and would like to reactivate your membership, please call us on 5952 2811
We know some of you may not be ready to reactivate your membership just yet, or may prefer visiting our centre on a casual basis using our online booking system. If this is the case, you don’t need to do anything – we will continue suspending your membership for you.

How can I reactivate my membership?
All members have received an email that includes a link to the reactivation form. To reactivate your membership, please fill in the form and hit submit. If you did not receive an email and would like to reactivate your membership, please call us on 5952 2811.
If I reactivate my membership, do I still need to book to visit the centre?
Yes. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, you must book via the online booking system to secure your place. If you have reactivated your membership, please select the membership option when you book to ensure you will not be charged.
If I reactivate my membership, will my fees be the same?
Your first direct debit may be slightly different from your normal fortnightly fee. This could be due to one or more of the following reasons:
- Additional credit applied from your last debit due to centre closure;
- Unpaid fees from your last direct debit; or
- Pro-rata fees incurred from your activation date to the first returned debit.
After your first direct debit, you will be charged at the same amount and on the same fortnightly as before suspension.
Is the centre fully operational or is it still operating with reduced services?
Due to COVID-19, the centre is still operating with reduced services and restrictions on how many people are allowed within the centre.
I have reactivated my membership, but I am not happy with the reduced services. Can I resuspend my membership?
Yes. If you are unhappy with the centre’s reduced services, you can resuspend your membership by calling our centre.
If the centre closes due to suburb lockdowns, will my membership be resuspended?
Yes. If the centre closes due to lockdowns, your membership will be resuspended.
I’m not ready to come back yet. Can I continue suspending my membership?
Yes. At this point in time, all memberships will remain suspended unless a member submits a reactivation form to indicate that they wish to reactive their membership. We intend to continue following government guidelines, and will reinstate all memberships once the centre is fully operational.
I don’t want to reactivate my membership. Can I continue booking and paying per session online?
Yes, you can continue booking via our website.
As of Monday 29 June, Phillip Island Leisure Centre will have expanded services for gym access and group fitness
Our online booking system for services will be available later this week. When it is ready, you can choose the program and time you wish to attend using the links below, as well as make a payment to secure your place. You can also book and pay over the phone. Please be aware you must have a confirmed booking before visiting our centre.

If you are unable to attend a booked session, you can cancel your session through your booking confirmation email, or alternatively by calling us. With limited numbers of people able to access the facility at any one time, it is really important that you let us know if you can’t make it so the booking can be accessed by someone else.
In order to provide more opportunities for our community to be active and access the centre, visits to the gym are capped at 50 minutes and group fitness classes are capped at 45 minutes. Please arrive no earlier than five minutes before your appointment time. If there is a need to queue, we ask you please adhere to the 1.5m social distancing rules and leave the centre promptly after your session.
Please ensure you bring with you a sweat towel and a refillable drink bottle. If you do not have a towel, you will be not be allowed to enter the centre.
Memberships will remain on hold at this time. Members will be able to access the programs and services at a reduced rate. An email will also be sent to members in the coming days with more details.

Since the Victorian Government announced the easing of restrictions, our staff have been working around the clock to ensure we have all of the measures in place to keep you and the community safe when we reopen.
Although the government has announced that certain programs and services can reopen, it does not mean they will reopen at our centre straight away. We are working with our council partners to ensure we consider the safety of our staff and the community, equity of access for our members and the commercial viability before we reopen.

All other programs and services that are not listed above will remain closed at this point in time.
To ensure your safety and the safety of our staff, we are implementing a number of changes to make your return to our centre is as smooth as possible. Please read the below safety measures prior to attending the centre.
All staff have completed the Department of Health COVID-safe training, as well as additional training provided by YMCA Victoria to ensure they are equipped with the knowledge to keep you safe. We have also provided additional training for specific roles to ensure all programs operate safely with social distancing requirements in place.
To ensure we are following the government’s health guidelines, there will be a restricted number of people allowed within a space at any given time. So no one misses out, we will be setting up an online booking system where you can select a session time that suits you and pay immediately to secure your place. (Bookings system coming soon)
At this time, membership payments will not resume. You can also book and pay over the phone by calling our centre on 5952 2811.
Temperature scanning on entry
Please make sure you arrive 10 minutes early to your session so you have enough time to sign in and get your temperature checked. All staff and visitors will be scanned upon entry and anyone who displays a temperature of 38°C will be politely asked to leave.
Signage and instructions
Once you are inside the centre, you will see signage and instructions on how staff and visitors can be COVID-safe. Hygiene signage and floor, seat and bench stickers will be displayed throughout the facility to help everyone with physical distancing requirements.
Social distancing in centre
A safe distance of 1.5 metres between people will be required throughout the centre and programs. All spaces within the centre have been measured and 4 metres squared restrictions per space will be enforced. Staff and visitors will be counted as they enter and exit spaces, and some seats and equipment have been removed to ensure social distancing is possible.
Please remember that we must all play our part in helping stop the spread of COVID-19. If a visitor does not follow our COVID-safe practices, including social distancing requirements, they may politely be asked to leave the facility by a staff member.
Hygiene and cleaning
When you arrive at the facility, the first thing you will notice is hand sanitiser at all entry and exit points, with the expectation that everyone (staff and visitors) sanitise their hands before entering. Hand sanitiser will be available throughout the centre and in bathrooms.
The entire facility will be cleaned every 24 hours and high touch points, such as doors, toilets and gym equipment, will be cleaned regularly throughout the day. Staff will also be wiping down gym equipment regularly and antibacterial wipes will be available for visitors to use before and after using equipment.
Our 8-step plan for a confirmed case
Our staff have been trained to ensure that if there is a confirmed case at the centre, they have the tools and resources they need to close down safely. All visitors will have to sign in at reception when they attend their session, which allows us to contact trace those people who were at the centre. There will also be a contamination clean prior to reopening.
Please do not visit the centre if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms: fever, cough, tiredness, cold, sore throat, runny nose, shortness of breath or headache. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please seek medical attention and be checked for COVID-19 at one of the testing stations across the state.
Conditions of entry
- It is a condition of entry that all customers will abide by the hygiene and physical distancing measures that are in place.
- All staff and customers will be temperature checked upon entry to the centre. Further conditions of entry and hygiene policies are outlined in detail in the menu below.
